Toys for Tots’ initial objective, which remains the hallmark of the program today, is to ‘bring the joy of Christmas to needy children’. Its goal is to deliver a message of hope that will build self-esteem and motivate children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders. Canada’s Largest Ribfest at Spencer Smith Park, Burlington
Labour Day Weekend! September 2-5, 2011
Every year, Spencer Smith Park in Burlington, Ontario, welcomes people from all over the world to sample some of the best ribs from some of North America’s top ribbers.
This year marks the 16th anniversary of Canada’s Largest Ribfest, an event that the National Post has dubbed “the Superbowl of Ribfests.” Funds raised through the festival are contributed to local charitable organizations, making key contributions that help shape the local community.
Last year, 139,000 people walked through the gates at Ribfest. The organizers from The Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore were pleased to announce that $250,000 was raised for local charities at the 2010 event. Over the last 15 years, total money raised through Canada’s Largest Ribfest has surpassed $2.3 million.
Admission to Ribfest is Free. There will be great musical guests, and activities and games for kids of all ages. The proceeds from this event go directly to the community - a good cause, good food, good times and the perfect way to bid farewell to summer.
