As the cold weather approaches, it’s time to prepare your vehicle for winter driving conditions. One of the most crucial steps you can take is to equip your car with winter tires. At Stop N Go Automotive in Burlington, we understand the importance of safe driving in snowy and icy conditions. In this article, we’ll explore the benefits of winter tires and why they are essential for winter driving.
Winter tires are specially designed to perform well in cold temperatures, snow, and ice. Unlike all-season tires, which are made for a variety of conditions, they use softer rubber compounds that remain flexible even in frigid temperatures. This flexibility helps them grip the road better when driving on snow and ice, providing improved traction and handling.
One of the primary benefits of winter tires is their ability to provide enhanced traction on slippery surfaces. The tread patterns on winter tires are designed with deep grooves and unique shapes that help channel snow and slush away from the tire. This design allows for better contact with the road, ensuring you can stop and start safely in winter driving conditions.
When it comes to winter driving, stopping distance is critical. Studies show that winter tires can reduce stopping distances on snow and ice by up to 30%. This advantage is vital when you need to react quickly to sudden stops or changes in traffic. By choosing winter tires, you give yourself a better chance to stop safely, even in challenging conditions.
Winter tires are not just about snow and ice; they also perform better in cold weather. When temperatures drop below 7°C (45°F), the rubber in all-season tires can harden, reducing their effectiveness. Winters, however, are engineered to stay flexible in colder temperatures, allowing for better handling and stability.
Driving in winter conditions can be unpredictable. Black ice, snow drifts, and icy patches can appear out of nowhere. Having winter tires on your vehicle increases your safety by providing the necessary grip and control needed to navigate these hazards. At Stop N Go Automotive, we prioritize your safety on the road, and winter tires are an essential part of that.
When selecting winter tires, it’s important to consider your driving habits and the typical weather conditions in your area. There are different types of winter tires, including studded and non-studded options. Studded tires provide excellent traction on icy roads but may not be allowed in certain areas. Non-studded tires, on the other hand, offer great performance on snow and ice without the potential road damage that studs can cause.
At Stop N Go Automotive in Burlington, ON, our knowledgeable staff can help you choose the right winter tires for your vehicle. We can assess your driving needs and recommend the best options to ensure you’re prepared for winter driving.
Proper installation of winter tires is crucial for their performance. At Stop N Go Automotive, we offer professional installation services to ensure your tires are mounted correctly. Additionally, we recommend having your winter tires checked regularly for wear and tear. Proper maintenance can extend the life of your tires and ensure they perform well throughout the winter season.
Winter driving can be challenging, but having the right tires can make all the difference. Winter tires offer enhanced traction, improved stopping distance, and better performance in cold weather, keeping you safe on the roads. At Stop N Go Automotive in Burlington, ON, we are committed to helping you prepare your vehicle for the winter months.

Stop N Go was recommended to me by a friend who lives close by and takes their vehicles there for service. Because they are a couple of hours from where I live, the recommendation wasn't the only incentive I needed before choosing to have my car serviced here. There was also the very high Google rating and the added benefit of having a loaner car when mine was in for service.
They replaced all 4 pads and rotors and did an alignment. They explained everything they were going to do and gave me some good recommendations on the type of parts. My discussions with Matt gave me confidence that they knew what parts were best for my specific vehicle.
With the new brakes, the car feels better than it did when new!
I highly recommend and will use them again.

Excellent! Between photos and videos of parts that may need to be repaired to a comprehensive list of actionable items and what was actually done, to recommending a conservative approach to repairs that could have cost me a lot of money, it is the best customer service I've experienced at an automotive shop. I had a really great experience at Stop and Go in Burlington. From the very first phone call, everyone was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly.
When I called for a quote, they walked me through exactly how the diagnostic process works and what they would be checking on the car. After the diagnostic was completed, they called me back and thoroughly explained the issue over the phone in a way that was easy to understand. They even had availability the same day to fix my air conditioning, which I really appreciated.
The whole team was very kind and never made me feel rushed or pressured. The pricing was fair, and overall the experience felt very honest and transparent.
I also noticed that my car seemed cleaner when I got it back — the seats and floors looked tidied up, which was such a thoughtful extra touch that they absolutely didn’t have to do.
Overall, I’m really happy with the experience and would definitely recommend them to others looking for a trustworthy mechanic in Burlington.

I took my Audi TT in for a safety for a pending sale. Todd and his team were very professional and informative. He told me the areas that needed attention and also took me into the shop to actually show me the problems. I was very happy with the service and work performed. Todd also showed me other work that the car may need down the road. I certainly would use their services again.
Appreciate the great service. Picked up my car today. Runs beautifully and loved the clean car as well.

I recently took my vehicle here for the first time and was incredibly impressed by the service. The transparency they provide is exceptional; I received a detailed email report that included photos of every issue found, along with clear explanations of why each repair was necessary.
Todd was great to work with. He explained everything thoroughly and even provided a prioritized list of future maintenance items so I could plan ahead.
The convenience was also a major plus. I didn't realize they offered it, but they actually sent someone to my house to pick me up so I could collect my car. It is rare to find a shop that combines this level of technical detail with such helpful customer service. Highly recommended!

Was calling around for pricing and these guys offered the best. Todd got back to me right away, straight to the point, told me exactly what they could do for me, no up-selling, no this that and the other - professional, courteous and honest. Booked me in that night and even thought I didn't get the car to them until late afternoon they started right away and had repairs done mid-morning the next day. Asked about their services and they pretty much do everything mechanical so will be taking my vehicle to Stop N Go from now on. Oh and the interior and exterior clean was the cherry on top! Thanks Todd and Matt for a great first visit!
it is the place to go to get it fixed right.
will go back anytime

I had a great experience with Stop N Go Automotive. They did an excellent job working on my vehicle, replacing the control arm, ball joint, wheel bearing, and all four brake pads and rotors.
What really stood out to me was their communication—they kept me informed throughout the entire process, so I always knew what was going on with my car. That level of transparency gave me a lot of confidence in their work.
On top of that, they went above and beyond by providing me with a free loaner car while my vehicle was being repaired, which made things so much more convenient. They even vacuumed and washed my car before returning it, which was a really nice touch and showed they care about their customers.
Overall, professional service, quality work, and great customer care. I would definitely recommend Stop N Go Automotive to anyone looking for a reliable mechanic.

I had a great experience with Stop N Go recently. I appreciated the full and thorough vehicle inspection and there were photos and notes included in the report so I knew it was thorough. They also gave genuine advice on what should be repaired/replaced immediately and what could be deferred to another time. Great service and good people!
